The Running Blog |
Welcome to The Running Blog! I am a runner in his last year in high school- I've recently just committed to MSU to run there. I've been running for over 5 years, and I've learned a few things here and there. This is where I (try to) post my runs, diet, and anything else in my life that relates to running. Ask me anything you'd like! |
maybe-gravy-deactivated20130504 asked: How do you run an 800? My coach is making me race it for the first time ever in an amount of time that I will be difficult for me to hit. Advice please?
Funny you ask, I just ran one today. Well, in the first 400 I wait it out, sitting in a comfortable position, going a rather moderate pace. Then, on the 3rd 200, I start to make my advance to the head of the pack. With 200 to go, I give it all I have left. This tactic works very well for me, and for most people in that case. Never go out as hard as you can… go out comfortable(but not too comfortable, remember, 2 laps isn’t long at all), and then last lap make your move. If you do it right, that last 200 will be the most painful experience you have ever felt.
